THANKS METALHEADS!!!
06-07-2008: And so the 7th chapter of the D.O.D. festival is consigned to history and it is with great pride and gratitude that I now pay tribute to those who were involved in assisting in any way.
Firstly to the Irish acts that took to the stage at the weekend, many thanks for your efforts and your professionalism, in particular a special thanks to Visceral Attack & Nephridium for stepping in at short notice. I take great hope from the amount of talent that took to the stage at the weekend and I predict that great things can happen in the Irish scene once everybody keeps up the hard work. Extra special thanks to both Mourning Beloveth and Old Season whose actions before, during and after the festival have left us in little doubt as to their friendship and belief in D.O.D.
To our international acts, I have to say what a pleasure it was to work with you guys, thoroughly professional and full of encouragement to keep our festival going, many thanks and I'm sure we'll see you on tour in the near future.
Once again Mick & the staff at Pedigree Corner have made us feel welcome and strived to ensure that everything went smoothly, I personally feel that the team there have become part and parcel of the D.O.D. experience and I believe we owe a huge debt of gratitude to them, many thanks once again folks.
To our suppliers, partners & sponsors, Scobes & Sentinel, Ray McGowan & Phantom, Darragh & Invictus, Ian & Underground Movement, Simon & Black Widow (Waterford), Sarah & Chaos (Galway), Michael & Thunder Rock, Pete & Podie Ponk, Thor & Alpha Sounds, Longford Hire, Laois Hire (Portlaoise), Muller, Bernadine at Coolanowle Guesthouse, Mick at Knockfin B&B, Mrs Bowden, Screenlink, Tom Cunningham Designs (Artwork, T-shirts & Program), Clodagh & Amy in Blink PR, Staging Systems, Barretts bus hire, Praetorian Security, Eithne & Dataprint, John Mahon Bus Company, Declan Cardiff Coaches, Vinny Dalton Taxis, Camden Clothing, Nick & Miracle Artists & Ralph & Ingo at the Way of Darkness Festival, a very big thank you for your assistance.
To our staff, Bruno (Stage Manager Extraordinaire), Fran (Drum Tech), Dermot, Daragh & Gerry (Guitar Techs), Paul (Driver and all round superman), Nadine, Bea, Lydia, Therese & Del (Ticket desk Ladies), Peter (General Crew), Derek, Rob, Dave (T-shirt stall), Emmett Connell (Photography), Luke & Dan (Medics), Maureen & Craig (Assistance at home), to all in the army for helping to distribute fliers and posters, a huge thank you for all you efforts over the past year.
Once again, my heartfelt thanks to my fellow headbangers & organisers Crunch, Mark & Tim, we started working on this years festival the week after last years and these guys have busted a gut to make sure everything went off properly, you have my eternal gratitude for your help, support and dedication to the cause.
Last but most definitely not least, I have to thank you, the fans, who come to support us every year, rain, hail or shine, Cheers to you all.
To anyone I may have forgotten, apologies and many thanks for your assistance.
Now as many of you know the numbers were down a good bit on last year but were more or less on a par with 2006 meaning it was still one of the better attended seven we have done.
Over the last few days, I have taken note of the comments & suggestions concerning the festival, please keep them coming, they are invaluable to us. We will review everything over the next couple of weeks as regards next year and the future of the festival and will keep you posted.
Cheers to all,
Karl

Delirium Tremens Cancels
22-05-2008: Unfortunately Delirium Tremens has had to cancel its appearance at D.O.D. The band is still searching for a drummer and was not confident that it could find one and get the necessary rehearsal time in before July so took the decision to cancel. While this is unfortunate it is not the end of this chapter as we will be doing our best to ensure that DT get to rock the D.O.D. stage at some point in the near future.
A replacement will be announced in due course.
Line-Up Change - Altar of Plagues replaced by Graveyard Dirt
12-05-2008: Unfortunately Altar of Plagues have had to cancel their appearance at this year’s festival due to reasons beyond their control. We are delighted to have secured a quality replacement at very short notice. The resurrected Graveyard Dirt are now playing D.O.D. 2008.
We will announce the provisional running order tomorrow night – keep an eye on the forum section of the website.
Line-Up Complete - Tickets Now On-Sale
17-04-2008: This year’s line-up is now complete and we have put tickets on-sale. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster as well as from Sentinel Records and The Sound Cellar in Dublin. Please click-on the Ticketmaster logo to the right of the screen for further info.
Nifelheim confirmed - Sirocco and Darkest Era also added
07-04-2008: Because we like to make the festival as special an occasion as we can we are delighted to be able to bring you a truly special act at this year’s festival. Nifelheim have confirmed their appearance at D.O.D. in what will be the legendry Swedish black/speed metal act’s first ever Irish performance. The enigmatic Gustavsson brothers will bring their acclaimed live assault to the festival for a special rare performance (they don’t play live very often – anywhere). We are also very pleased to be able to announce the final two acts for this year’s festival. From Cork, ‘Sirocco’ will make their D.O.D. debut and from Northern Ireland the latest young Irish metal act to be tipped for success beyond these shores ‘Darkest Era’ complete this year’s line-up.
Unleashed to headline - Delirium Tremens and Altar of Plagues also confirmed
21-03-2008: Swedish death metal legends Unleashed will headline the Saturday night of this year’s D.O.D. Festival. Following in the footsteps of previous Swedish death metal headliners at D.O.D. Dismember (2004) and Entombed (2007), Unleashed will no doubt deliver the full on Viking death metal assault they have become known for and make for a fitting end to this years festival.
Also confirmed are German thrashers Delirium Tremens who come to us courtesy of our partners at the Way of Darkness Festival. The five piece put on an incredible live show to complement their old school thrash metal sound and the D.O.D. crew is tipping them to be the surprise package of the weekend.
We are very pleased to also confirm Cork’s Altar of Plagues. The experimental black/ambient metal outfit have impressed enormously in their short existence and were recently snapped up by black metal legends Mayhem to support the Norwegians on their European tour.
Overoth & Neocosmic
17-03-2008: Happy St Patricks Day! We are pleased to announce that Overoth who are arguably the most promising Death Metal act to arrive on the Irish scene in recent years have been added to the line-up. The Belfast four piece released its highly impressive ‘Death Personified’ demo in late 2007 on Belfast’s Rundown Records and will support Obituary in Dublin in June of this year.
Also joining the bill are Neocosmic who come to us from our German partners at the Way of Darkness festival. The band plays progressive ``future cosmic metal`` with elements of Death/Black/Dark Metal and will bring something new and interesting to this year’s festival.
Stand-Up Guy & Victim X
04-03-2008: Its been a long time coming but finally we are pleased to announced that Stand-Up Guy will be playing D.O.D. 2008. The Belfast four piece has been heavily requested by the D.O.D. faithful for a number of years now but finally the time is right and one of the Island’s most exciting bands will grace the D.O.D. stage in July.
We are also pleased to confirm Limerick’s Victim X who are undoubtedly the most promising act to emerge from Limerick’s metal scene since The Swarm.
Watain Confirmed!!!
28-02-2008: Swedish black metal comes to D.O.D. 2008! We are delighted to finally confirm that Watain will play this year's D.O.D.
It's been a while since we had some real black metal at D.O.D. and we know that the true Scandinavian black metal experience best manifests itself these days in Watain. Enjoy!!!
Also confirmed is Ireland's very exciting Celtic Legacy who will have their long awaited new album out by the time D.O.D. rolls around and we bring you some Dublin Bay Area Thrash metal with the addition of Nuclear Reign.
Old Season and Chambercraft Confirmed
10-02-2008: We are pleased to announce two more acts. Firstly we are delighted to announce that Old Season will make a long overdue return to the festival. The band last played D.O.D. in 2004 and have been one of the top requested acts by D.O.D. fans since that performance.
The second act we can confirm is the enigmatic Northern Irish black metal project Chambercraft. The one man self recorded and produced atmospheric black metal experiment has raised the bar for Irish black metal with the recent release of the 'Last Cast' EP (only on 10" vinyl picture disk) and fits perfectly with the festival's aim of bringing Irish metal fans something truly unique each July.
First Acts announced
27-12-2008: It is with great pleasure that we announce the first two acts confirmed for the 2008 festival.
The Italian masters of Epic Doom Metal Doomsword will play D.O.D. 2008. These guys have been at the top of the list of the bands YOU told us you wanted and we are delighted to be able to bring them to the festival in 2008.
Continuing the Doom theme we are delighted to be welcoming back Ireland's very own world renowned masters of Doom, Mourning Beloveth for a record breaking fourth performance at the festival. Their storming set at their last appearance in 2005 was something very special and we look forward to seeing them do it all over again in July.
If you missed it - D.O.D. 2008 will take place on July 4th and 5th. Tickets will go on sale in January. The festival website is currently being revamped and should be back up and running in a couple of weeks.
