About Ballylinan
Ballylinan is a small village set amidst the rolling green hills of the County Laois/County Kildare border. It's name comes from the old Irish "Baile Uí Laighneáin" which is translated as the "Town of Lynan ". There doesn't seem to be any clarity around who Lynan was but if he was alive today he'd be lucky enough to have Ireland 's premier metal festival on his doorstep.
Each July the D.O.D. Festival is held at ‘Pedigree Corner' just outside the village on the main Athy-Waterford road (N-78). Pedigree Corner is a venue synonymous with live entertainment in the area and has been the home of the D.O.D. Festival since 2002.
